Recreational Gymnastics Classes

Parent/Tot (6 months - 35 months)

8:1 Ratio, 30 minute class, Co-Ed

This class will guide each parent and child through a list of motor development skills and activities. We strive to help keep that "baby" flexibility and build on their strength and coordination. Parent interaction will help create the trust bond while attempting new body movements and instill courage within your little one.

Mini & Mini Stars (24 months - 35 months)

4:1 Ratio, 30 minute class, Co-Ed

In this class students independently work with the instructor. Here parents can start to see the gymnastics skills beginning to take shape. Skills are broken down to help their body form to each safe and correct shape. We also introduce the children to the correct gymnastics terminology and equipment. Strength conditioning will start to focus more on repetitions then single sets.

Junior 1, 2 & Star (3 yrs. - 5 yrs.)

5:1 Ratio, 45 minute class, Co-Ed

In this class students independently work with the instructor. Here parents can start to see the gymnastics skills beginning to take shape. Skills are broken down to help their body form to each safe and correct shape. We also introduce the children to the correct gymnastics terminology and equipment. Strength conditioning will start to focus more on repetitions then single sets.

Rec Youth, Star & Pro (6 yrs. - 10 yrs.)

7:1 Ratio, 1 hour class, at this time Girls Only

Here we begin to teach children to “think” about movement. Encourage them to self-monitor during practice so they learn independence and awareness. We continue to provide numerous movement experiences. Utilizing progressions to teach skills in a step-by-step fashion that allows athletes to learn and master basic skills before moving to more advanced skills. In gymnastics the fundamental skills serve as a basis for the performance of more advanced skills.

First time gymnasts will begin in the Rec Youth class and work their way up through the Rec Program.

Rec Senior (11 yrs. - 17 yrs.)

7:1 Ratio, 1 hour class, at this time Girls Only

This class teaches but challenges the athletes; giving them more options to express themselves as to what their personal goals are. We still use progressions to teach skills in a step-by-step fashion. Through fun and interactive learning these tweens and teens begin to realize that you can learn gymnastics at any age and continue to maintain an active fitness lifestyle.

Honors Star & Pro (6 yrs. - 12 yrs.)

7:1 Ratio, 1.5 hour class, at this time Girls Only

Athletes placement in this class will be done so by the coaches. Here, students will begin to learn more difficult progression skills. While gymnastics is still meant to be fun; they start to learn about the mental training that is required. After completing this program athletes will have the choice of continuing on with recreational gymnastics or competing with our AAU Carolina Flipz Gymnastics Team.

Elite (10 yrs. - 17 yrs.)

6:1 Ratio, 2 hour class, at this time Girls Only

Athletes placement in this class will be done so by the coaches. This class continues to challenge each athlete on their individual progressions. Conditioning and flexibility are increased in order to improve the maintain the progress for more difficult gymnastics skills. Even though this class does not compete this class still maintains a teammate camaraderie that produces positive encouragement and friendship.
