AAU Competitive Gymnastics Team

Team North Carolina Gymnastics governs AAU Gymnastics related activities in the state of North Carolina. The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) of the United States is one of the largest non-profit, volunteer sports organizations in the U.S. dedicated to the development and promotion of all amateur sports programs. Team North Carolina AAU Gymnastics offers a positive, friendly competitive league with no mobility or eligibility standards, allowing gymnasts of all ability levels the opportunity to gain a competitive gymnastics experience. Memberships run from September 1st to August 31st of each year, so you can sign up anytime.

AAU Developmental-Team (3yrs. - 5yrs.)

8:1 Ratio, (2) 2 hour class, at this time Girls Only

Athletes placement in this class will be done so by the coaches. Due to the wide age range this class will be broken into age appropriate groups. We will introduce gymnasts to compulsory routines for competition use and focus on form and technique. Conditioning and flexibility are increased in order to improve and maintain progress for more difficult gymnastics skills. We strive to keep teammates developing skills at the same levels so they can all move up as a team.

AAU Pre-Team (6yrs. - 14yrs.)

8:1 Ratio, (1) 1 1/2 hour class, at this time Girls Only

Athletes placement in this class will be done so by the coaches. Due to the wide age range this class will be broken into age appropriate groups. We will introduce gymnasts to compulsory routines for competition use and focus on form and technique. Conditioning and flexibility are increased in order to improve and maintain progress for more difficult gymnastics skills. We strive to keep teammates developing skills at the same levels so they can all move up as a team.

AAU Level 2 (5yrs. - 13yrs.)

:1 Ratio, Up to 12 Hours a Week, at this time Girls Only

Athletes placement in this class will be done so by the coaches. We will introduce and improve gymnasts technique to the Level 2 compulsory routines for competition use. Conditioning and flexibility are increased in order to improve and maintain progress for more difficult gymnastics skills. We strive to keep teammates developing skills at the same levels so they can all move up as a team. A gymnast must receive a 32.00 or higher. All-Around score and pass 90% of the Level 2 progression skills card to move up to Level 3.

AAU Level 3 (7 yrs. - 17 yrs.)

8:1 Ratio, Up to 12 Hours a Week at this time Girls Only

Athletes placement in this class will be done so by the coaches. We will introduce and improve gymnasts technique to the Level 3 compulsory routines for competition use. Conditioning and flexibility are increased and now tracked by coaches in order to improve and maintain progress for more difficult gymnastics skills. We strive to keep teammates developing skills at the same levels so they can all move up as a team. A gymnast must receive 32.00 or higher All-Around score and pass 90% of the Level 3 progression skills card to move up to Level 4.

AAU Level 4 (7 yrs. - 17 yrs.)

8:1 Ratio, Up to 12 Hours a Week, at this time Girls Only

Athletes placement in this class will be done so by the coaches. We will introduce and improve gymnasts technique to the Level 4 compulsory routines for competition use. Conditioning and flexibility are increased and tracked by coaches in order to improve and maintain progress for more difficult gymnastics skills. A gymnast must receive a 32.00 or higher All-Around score and pass 90% of the Level 4 progression skills card to move up to Level 4.

AAU Level 5 (7 yrs. - 17 yrs.)

8:1 Ratio, Up to 12 Hours a Week, at this time Girls Only

Athletes placement in this class will be done so by the coaches. We will introduce and improve gymnasts technique to the Level 5 compulsory routines for competition use. Conditioning and flexibility are increased and tracked by coaches in order to improve and maintain progress for more difficult gymnastics skills. We strive to keep teammates developing skills at the same levels so they can all move up as a team. A gymnast must receive a 32.00 or higher All-Around score and pass 90% of the Level 5 progression skills card to move up to Level 6 Mod Opt.

AAU Level 6-10 Mod Opt. (9 yrs. - 17 yrs.)

8:1 Ratio, Up to 16 Hours a Week, at this time Girls Only

Athletes placement in this class will be done so by the coaches. We will introduce and improve gymnasts technique to the optional skills required. Routines will need to be separately choreographed outside of practice hours for competition use. Conditioning and flexibility are increased and tracked by coaches in order to improve and maintain progress for more difficult gymnastics skills. A gymnast must receive a 32.00 or higher All-Around score and pass 90% of the Level 6 Mod Opt. progression skills card to move up to Level 7 Optionals.
